Since its construction in 1850, Château de la Baudonnière has grown to become a purpose-built French language immersion centre for school groups and has established itself as the premier destination of its kind to teachers throughout the UK. The Château has been welcoming school groups for over 25 years and has continued to innovate and develop its facilities to deliver a top-class learning experience in an intentional environment.
This comprises 4 dorms of upto 14 pupils. Each dorm is ensuite with a bathroom containing 3 showers, 2 toilets and 5 sinks. There are 3 ensuite teachers rooms which are either double rooms or twins plus one other ensuite bedroom which can either be a teachers room or a dormitory of 6 pupils.
This building contains 2 identical floors of 3 dorms and 1 teachers room. All the rooms are ensuite with the dormitories of 8/10 pupils bathrooms containing 3 showers, 2 toilets and 3 sinks. The downstairs ensuite teachers room is a double and the upstairs ensuite teachers room is a twin. There is small teachers’ lounge on the landing with tea and coffee facilities.
This building has 5 dormitories 6/8/6/8/10 on 2 floors and 2 communal bathrooms, one on each floor. Each bathroom has 5 showers, 4 toilets and 8 sinks. There are 2 single teachers rooms in the attic which share a bathroom and one further ensuite room on the ground floor which is used either as a dorm for 6 pupils or an additional teachers room.
La Menuiserie comprises 4 ensuite dormitories; 2 are downstairs 8/10 and 2 are upstairs 6/6. There is a downstairs teachers ensuite twin room. This accommodation is joined onto one of our games rooms which has an upstairs mezzanine lounge with tea, coffee and wine.
This accommodation has 2 ensuite dormitories of 8 pupils and a single ensuite teachers room. It forms part of one large building that also houses La Ecurie and Les Abeilles and is right next to our staff room where the 24hr duty staff normally reside.
This was part of the traditional farm worker house back in the day and it was where Gerard and his family lived. These days it is an ensuite dormitory for 12 pupils and an ensuite single room for a teacher.
This forms part of the Pavillion du Normandie building and comprises 5 rooms, all of which have their own bathroom and toilet. 4 of the rooms are teachers rooms with 2 double rooms, a twin and a single. The fifth room, also ensuite, is either used as a room for teachers or as a dormitory for up to 6 pupils.
About 5 minutes’ walk from the main Chateau complex is the Nivard Gite which can accommodate a group of upto 30 pupils and accompanying teachers. The old gite has a lounge and kitchen plus an ensuite dorm of up to 6 pupils and 2 teachers rooms upstairs that share a bathroom. The new gite has 4 ensuite dorms of between 5 and 8 pupils plus a small mezzanine lounge and a kitchen diner downstairs.
