Travel insurance has always been an essential element of any school trip and in light of current uncertainty, having reliable cover for your group is more important than ever. 

To give schools the extra reassurance they need to book their French trip with confidence, we've introduced extra flexible booking terms for new school trips to our Normandy centres. Now, following feedback from schools, we now also offer groups the chance to take out specialist insurance for their trip, which include COVID-19 cover.

Introducing ABTA's STF Travel Sure insurance for school trips

We are making ABTA’s STF Travel Sure insurance policy available to groups staying at our Normandy centres. The policy is underwritten by AXA, one of the world’s largest insurance companies and was developed in partnership with ABTA, the UK’s most trusted travel association. It has been designed in association with the School Travel Forum (STF) so you can be confident that it provides specialist protection for schools.

The insurance policy provides all the protection you would typically expect—plus an enhanced level of COVID-19 cover for your group.

What COVID-19 protection does the insurance option provide?

COVID-19 pre-departure travel insurance cover:

• Cancellation cover for any individuals who can’t travel because they’ve contracted COVID-19 in the run up to the trip 
• Cover for individuals who are unable to go on the trip because they’ve been told to self-isolate by NHS Test & Trace

COVID-19 protection while on the school trip:

• Cover for any additional travel and accommodation expenses incurred by an individual testing positive for COVID while in France
• Emergency medical expenses cover if someone falls ill with COVID-19 while away
• Additional accommodation and travel expenses incurred because an individual is required to self-isolate
• The accommodation and travel costs incurred by a parent or guardian to travel to the resort and accompany their affected child

How does your school trip cover compare?

As well as providing cover in case of COVID-19, the insurance provides a number of other benefits for your group:

• Cover for gadgets e.g. lost or stolen mobile phones
• New-for-old replacement of lost or stolen items
• No excess to pay on claims (excluding luggage) so parents will receive all of their claim
• Cover for all the activities your groups will enjoy on a language immersion trip to Normandy e.g. kayaking, climbing, Mont St Michel Bay Walk, fencing and other animateur-led adventure activities and team sports
• No exemptions for pre-existing medical conditions and, unlike other policies, no requirement to declare pre-existing medical conditions
