What to pack for a school residential

So your child is going to France. Yay! Maybe it's their first time visiting another country or their first time being away from loved ones—whatever the case, they are sure to grow in confidence & make some unforgettable memories. We want them to have the best time with us and that starts with arriving prepared. So if you're scratching your head about what to pack or terrified of forgetting something—Don't fret! Here's out fool-proof list of what to bring on a school residential:

  • Valid passport (and visa if required)
  • GHIC Card
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Spending money
  • Small rucksack for day trips
  • Pencil case and pencils
  • Workbook
  • French/English dictionary
  • Games and books for the journey
  • Torch
  • Small towel
  • Large towel
  • Personal toiletries
  • Personal medication
  • Travel sickness tablets etc
  • Plastic bags for laundry
  • Washbag: soap, shampoo, flannel, toothpaste, tooth brush, comb etc
  • Waterproof jacket or cagoule
  • Waterproof trousers if possible
  • 2 tracksuit bottoms
  • 2 sweatshirt/jumpers
  • 3 T-shirts
  • 2 shirts
  • 2 pairs of jeans/trousers
  • 2 pairs of shorts (summer)
  • Gloves and scarf (winter)
  • Underwear & socks
  • Swimwear
  • Pyjamas
  • Old clothes for wet and muddy activities
  • Old trainers for wet and muddy activities
  • Indoor shoes or slippers
  • Trainers or shoes
  • Wellington boots/walking boots
  • French-themed fancy dress & costume for the talent show (optional)

We advise all children to leave all valuables including jewellery, phones & tablets at home. It's not uncommon for teachers to enforce a phone ban on the trip, and as there's no available wifi at our centres, we encourage students to take this chance to unplug, get outside & connect with friends.

We look forward to welcoming your children for an immersive French experience!
