We have many tried and tested evening entertainment options

French school trip

Evening entertainments are an opportunity for school groups to come together as a whole and to have fun whilst still focusing on the French language.

La Grande Trouvaille

This activity is ideal for pupils aged 10-14 and takes place all year round.  The group is split into teams and must choose a French team name.  The aim of the activity is to find as many objects as possible from the list they are given. For example, “un escargot” or “trois feuilles d’arbre de couleurs différentes”.  The biggest challenge.... the list is in French and dictionaries are forbidden, so it’s a great opportunity for the pupils to practise asking our native French speaking animateurs questions.

Tournoi de Sport

A great activity for all ages that takes place on our purpose built sports pitch.  Thanks to the flood lights, this activity takes place all year round.  The children are generally split into four teams “Les Bleus”, “Les Verts”, “Les Rouges” and “Les Jaunes”.  A variety of sports are on offer, volleyball, football, basketball and the French game handball.

Soirée Française et Quizz

“La France” is the theme for this evening activity.  The children have the opportunity to dress up for dinner and the 3 best costumes will be awarded a certificate, so imagination is key.

There is also a surprise on the menu......”escargots”.  After dinner the pupils take part in a quiz. The group is split into teams and they will be asked questions on France as well as on their week at the Château.

We also set them challenges, such as, who can skip the longest with a skipping rope, without bursting the balloon between their knees.  Our staff on duty that evening will also be dressed up, leading the fun and games.

Jeux

Depending on the time of year (and the weather) these can take place inside or outside and are ideal for all age groups.  The Animateurs will choose a mixture of games to play.  These could be group-wide games, such as “poulet, renard, vipeur” or they could be smaller team games, such as “beret”.

Feu de Camp

Depending on the time of year, it is possible to have a campfire at the Château.  This is an activity adored by the 6th formers as much as the Year 6.  It is a great opportunity to sing some French songs, play some games and of course, eat toasted marshmallows.

Exercices D’Initiative D’Intérieur

This activity is ideal for all age groups and a good opportunity for the pupils to work as a team.  The Animateur will divide the group into small teams and then explain lots of different exercises, for example, “how do you balance 10 nails on 1?”

Jeux Sans Frontières

Think of a School Sports Day with a twist or, for those of you that remember, It’s A Knockout.  Eggs, flour and water galore. This activity tends to take place in the Spring and Summer and is enjoyed by children of all ages.  The group will be split into smaller teams and will take part in lots of different relays.

Spectacle Final

The week at the Château draws to a close with a Talent Show featuring all the schools present at the Château.  The children perform in groups or individually, and will sing, dance or act (if it’s in French then even better).

The best acts will be awarded a certificate.  It is also a chance to say “Au Revoir” to the Animateurs who will be compèring the show.

5th and 6th form groups

Cinéma/Bowling/Crêperie/Cheese & Wine

It is also possible to go offsite for one of your evening activities.  You can have a game of bowling, go and see a film in French or go out for a traditional French meal in a crêperie.  These visits will incur a supplement. We can put on a “Soirée vins et fromages”.

They get to taste typical French wine and cheeses and we will give them a quiz related to these.
